Since March 2005, the 911 Communications Center for the Parish of West Feliciana has been operating from within the new state-of-the-art 911 Communications facility located at 9938 West Feliciana Parkway.
When calls are received, dispatchers are responsible to notify the West Feliciana Fire Protection District #1, Emergency Medical Services, and the appropriate law enforcement personnel ,when needed.
The River Bend emergency alert system is also located inside the Detention Center. The 911 Center became the emergency operations center for West Feliciana parish following the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005
At that time, all of the emergency management resources for the entire parish were coordinated from this central location. In this true test and trial by fire (or rather water), The EOC and Communications center personal were able to weather the crisis with flying colors.
Sergent Frederica Tate commands the 8 full time and 6 part time law enforcement professionals that serve in the communications division.
