Maintenance

The Maintenance Division is staffed by Captain James "Randy" Davis, Sergeant Dan Klein, Sergeant Brian Spillman and Corporal Carl Kimball. They are responsible for the maintenance of approximately 100 vehicles as well as the general maintenance of sheriff office's heavy equipment. In addition to routine repairs, they also spend hours repairing auto crash damage, oil changes, and safety checks. The maintenance staff is also responsible for keeping the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's flotilla and crisis equipment serviced and ready for deployment in an emergency.
Keeping these vehicles on the road is critical to an efficient law enforcement unit. Those assigned to Maintenance have the responsibility of keeping the vehicles on the road. Fuel, oil, and car parts must be monitored and reordered to make sure there is a sufficient supply on hand to avoid any delays.
Another function of the Vehicle Maintenance Division is to refurbish and maintain any vehicle purchased, but not necessarily falling under the typical patrol car description.
Animal control is another function of the Maintenance Division. Although often overlooked, animal control in a rural setting can be a challenge, considering the abundance of livestock, wildlife and domestic animals in the area.
Injured animal calls are common, as well as calls for the removal of “un-wanted visitors” to residences and businesses in the area.
